SMITH FAMILY GENEALOGY

Genealogy (sometimes spelled geneology) is the science of tracing ancestors. We are often asked as to what is the difference between genealogy and tracing family trees, or are they just the same thing? There is not really a simple answer! The words certainly have a different shade of meaning, but the areas overlap considerably. In essence, genealogy has more of a meaning of tracing further back than one's great-grandparents, and of considering lines of female descent as much as male. A family tree is often closer to home, and if going further back as in the case of aristocracy, of concentrating more on the male line of descent. However, these are not firm definitions, and do not suit everybody.

Certainly, we have a section on this website for the Smith family trees researched by various Smith family members, and we also discuss our own theories as to why the Smith genes are the best in the Anglo-Saxon world in our Smith family history.
